?"2016 International Symposium on Safety Science and Technology" was successfully held at Kunming University of Science and Technology on October 17-19, 2016. Professor Wang Cheng, director of the State Key Laboratory of Explosive Science and Technology, presided over the opening ceremony. The National People's Congress Standing Committee, former Vice Chairman of the China Association of Science and Technology, Professor Feng Changgen from Beijing Institute of Technology, and President Peng Jinhui from Kunming University of Science and Technology attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The leaders of other units attending the meeting included Jing Guoxun, the president of Anyang Institute of Technology, and Tang Zhongming, deputy director of Yunnan Provincial Bureau of Work Safety. More than 140 experts and scholars from 12 countries and regions including the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Canada, South Korea, and Japan attended the meeting.

The International Conference on Safety Science and Technology is held once every two years. It has been successfully held nine times before. The conference has extensive and important influence at home and abroad.
