 Prof. Ahmed MEBARKI is currently full Professor in Civil Engineering at University Paris-Est (France).

He graduated as Civil Engineer from National Polytechnic School in Algiers (Algeria, 1980).

He moved to France where he obtained a first PhD in civil engineering from National Institute of Applied Sciences (Toulouse, France, 1984) and, afterwards, prepared a “Doctorat d’état ès-Sciences” thesis on theoretical reliability at University Paul Sabatier (Toulouse, France, 1990).

He moved in 1990 to Paris (Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan) as Associate Professor.

In 1995, he becomes full professor in Civil Engineering at University Paris-Est (Marne-la-Vallée, in France) where he founded the “Civil and Urban Engineering” laboratory and headed several academic/research components: Civil and Urban Engineering Laboratory, Civil Engineering Department, Structures and Infrastructures Institute, and the School for Doctoral Studies.

His research studies focus on “Integrated methodologies for natural and industrial risks”:

<!--[if !supportLists]-->-          <!--[endif]-->Simplified and probabilistic hazards models: Industrial hazards (fires, impacts), natural hazards (Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Floods, Doughtiness)

<!--[if !supportLists]-->-          <!--[endif]-->Vulnerability and fragility curves: case of buildings and industrial plants

<!--[if !supportLists]-->-          <!--[endif]-->Risks and Reliability methods

<!--[if !supportLists]-->-          <!--[endif]-->Optimal layouts and guided crowd evacuation

<!--[if !supportLists]-->-          <!--[endif]-->Domino effects and Resilience.

Since 1992, he has continuously been coordinator, active member and expert evaluator for many research projects:

<!--[if !supportLists]-->-          <!--[endif]-->Asia: bilateral projects with China, and Japan
